It used to be a good sign, but was taken in by an extremely bigoted dictator and is now one of the world's most hated insignias. Learn the truth, and know that not all Hinduists are devout followers of Hitler.
Given all the talk about Globalization etc… isnt it time to re-assess, perhaps “re-discover” and possibly reassert the original meaning and significance of the symbol?
what I find facinating that the average American who goes "I am shocked and appalled!" at the Nazi symbols would probably not think twice about abercrombie fat buddha shirts. The only racial caricature you can find 'acceptable' in America is of Asians, with squint eyes and buck teeth, straw hats, or wearing Fat Buddha as a joke.
Just interesting that if in Hong Kong have a faithful reproduction of Nazi design, nothing mocking it, that's unnacceptable and in America, you can have shirts mocking Fat Buddha, Asians, that's acceptable.
Of course the swastika is an ancient symbol and stuff, but you must understand that for people of Poland, Germany, France and other countries has meant a hell of five years, only sixty years ago. It's like using the sickle and hammer in Ukrania, we all know it doesn't nessesary means dictatorship, but... -Krs
MY opinion is that symbol is not the same the german government used. They used it 45° angle according to this cultural symbol. It has some old misuse as we know but more pople know the bad sides of this symbol, so be careful with it as this site does. I dont make opinion about the symbol.
Same with the Hitler moustache. It used to be a normal moustache, but nowerdays you will be recognised as a hitler-fan when you wear it. Well, hitler-moustache.com seems to be still free... So I can also get social traffic to my site and and earn some easy adsense $$$.
Esta página demuestra que existe personas con dos dedos de frente que no se quedan con lo que le dicen, sino que ellos mismos buscan las respuestas a sus preguntas.
Crete la mitad de lo que ves y nada de lo que te cuentan.
Calling Europeans racist for taking offense to the swastika is a fucked up point. That's basically like calling a black person racist for taking offense to the word "negro", which was originally a harmless term for the color black in Spanish. Ie, it makes no fucking sense.
**Poor English Version**
I think that allowing svastica to be censored and hated because the fact of being used by nazis is give more power to nazis, they fortuitously took that symbol of happiness and prosperity and turned it into the sign of their cruel campaign.
I think that if the web is able to make this symbol stop being interpreted as a nazi symbol, I would be a big step in the fight aganist nazism. We would snatch their flag, that never has been theirs at all...
Sorry about my English, perhaps someone could translate the spanish version...
Estoy a favor de esto! Yo queria demostrar a la gente que la esvástica no es más que un simbolo, que lo usase hitler no significa que lo haya creado el!
There are still Nazi's, I think there is still a Nazi party in the United States of America. I'm sure I saw it when searching political sites. Maybe some people are just symbol-minded. What about the millions of coffins in Madison, Georgia and Ennis, Texas and other places that they tell about on youtube and the FEMA death camps and the special trains for transporting people or bodies, etc. Check that out. What about the gangstalking that is going on and according to some sites the cops and firemen are in on it. What about Bohemian Grove. Maybe there are a lot of things we should be worried about.
Hopefully, one day 卐 will lose it's connotation with racism. What the nazis did was horrible, but please do not associate them with Europe and America, the majority of Europeans were against them, and as for Americans, there are nazis that exist there, but they are few and far between and will never be accepted by the rest of Americans.
Although 4chan has widely used 卐, making it appear on google, they have done their part in the fight against racism, whether they care or not. The neo-nazi Hal Turner's life and career have been completely ruined by them, he will never be the same. He no longer is able to spread his racist garbage to his fans any longer, and likely never will be again. If you wish to know more, I suggest looking him up on wikipedia.
This simbol is ancient slavic also named "kolovrat", means sun, motion, changes of seasons. It's in orthodox christianity and national ornaments... how can somebody ban it? Or somebondy wants to ruin churches and museums, or forbid peoples art? :)
The simplified problem, as I see it, is that people are offended by things they should not take offense to. When this is pointed out to them, they become even more offended, and most often hostile. Being sensitive to cultures and opinions is a nice idea, but it is poor in action. By avoiding hurting the feelings of all groups, you present no message at all. Symbols have only the meaning they are given, and should only be interpreted in the context they are presented in. A government that limits the speech of it's citizens simply for the purpose of protecting feelings, will never sit well. It saddens me to see situations like this, that are unresolvable without drastic changes in public mindset.
I used to draw this symbol everywhere before I learned what the Germans had used it for.
I eventually discovered it's earlier meanings and have always wondered what drew me to be so obsessed with the symbol even though I never knew it's meaning.
I first figured I was maybe a nazi in a past life, but upon finding out it's original place, maybe I was a bhuddist reincarnated. I like that idea better.
The 卐 in fact has been the emblem for Aryans (Iranians) since 3 to 4 thousand years ago. Note that Aryans were a tribe in central Asia who then were divided into 3 groups: one group went to Persia (today's Iran), one group went to Northern India, and the other group went to Europe which is known to be mainly in Germany. Other than that, the 卐 was the sign for all these 3 groups of Aryans. Years later it also became a symbol for Hinduism and such. Check out this old gold necklace decorated with the 卐 which was found in Iran and is currently being kept in Iran's National Museum: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%8D%90#Archaeological_record Unfortunately Adolf Hitler chose the 卐 as the Nazis' symbol to make everybody feel that they are true Aryans, whilst 卐 is the symbol of Sun-God Mithra, purity, and peace for all Aryans including myself.
SABIAN QUE HAY CLONES DE HITLER EN BRAZIL? UN AMIGO MIO TOMO FOTOS A 3 SUJETOS IGUALITOS A HITLER Y EN 3 HORAS LO ALSATARON Y LE QUITARON NOMAS LA CAMARA Y ESO QUE EN LA CARTERA TENIA 1000 MIL DOLARES OJALA ALGUIEN SEPA DE ESTO QUE ESTA PASANDO EN BRAZIL Y NOS INFORME
IN REGARDS TO THE RACIST ASPECTS OF THIS SYMBOL, THERE ISN'T, AS THE SYMBOL IS ONLY A NAZI SWASTIKA WHEN MIRRORED. PLEASE LEARN YOURSELF SOME KNOWLEDGE.
I can see the point you are trying to make but i feel labeling all European's racist is not correct, of course that symbol is not racist...its a symbol a picture in itself harmless and the Nazi party did not choose the symbol as it had a racist meaning, but the party did commit many atrocities under that symbol and i am afraid to say that has tared it somewhat but as i said i can see the point you are trying to make and people should learn more before jumping the gun and assuming something suck as the symbol is racist or for example because some Europeans have an issue with that symbol then we are all racist, do not make wild accusations please its rather offensive
"IN REGARDS TO THE RACIST ASPECTS OF THIS SYMBOL, THERE ISN'T, AS THE SYMBOL IS ONLY A NAZI SWASTIKA WHEN MIRRORED. PLEASE LEARN YOURSELF SOME KNOWLEDGE."
The National Socialist German Workers' Party (if you don't know what this is, look it up) did indeed use the Hakenkreuz (German: hook cross) as a primary symbol for their party. The Hakenkreuz is not a mirrored 卐, but one that has been rotated anticlockwise 45°. If you are going to ask the rest of us to "learn...some knowledge," the least you could do is follow your own advice.
Adolf Hitler did indeed want to make the symbol emblematic of the rise of the master race; and even though his plans failed to achieve fruition, if we are still viewing the 卐 as a symbol of his fanaticism, he succeeded in that aspect.
I really appreciate your cause, and I know what the swastika means and in what sense it's normally used for, I just want that said.
now, I think the text on the main page should be changed. as it is right now, it sounds like you're denouncing all europeans as racists. it sounds like the webmasters think that all europeans are racists. I am european myself, and even though I do not take a lot of offense in such things, you should slightly change the formulation, this being a site that's very anti-racism and pro understanding.
and the swastika was made famous by 4chan? wow. didn't know that...
well, thanks in advance for your eventual concideration and for reading this
Didn't nazis use reverse swastik than displayed here? Hindu's use swastik with arms to the right, whereas nazis used the arms to the left? Or am I confused?
It is a shame that we have been molded by our own ignorance to believe it to be from one source. A friend of mine has this as a tattoo on his wrist, mostly to provoke a conversation with someones ignorance, but he uses it as a symbol of luck. on a funny note he also has a tattoo of the iconic Jesus Christ naked bending over himself and giving himself a reach around, then underneath it says F U C K Jesus, Best tattoo i have ever seen or heard of.
"Comparing the nazis to the catholic in the crusades... are you KIDDING"
The catholic church is a bigger problem than Nazi's ever were. How many people have died by the Catholic church in the name of Christ? Some of the missionary "work" catholics did did to natives and "heathens" are still worse than anything Hitler did. Spanish Inquisition? Crusades?
But then again that's broad generalizations. Not all Nazi's are bad people and not all catholics are bad people. But yeah, you can compare the two; very easily.
Fanaticism in any aspect is still fanaticism no matter what good intentions you (think you might) have.
My Brother lives in Swastika, they recently celebrated 100 years. They were there way before Hitler perverted what it means. Peace. Unless as one person mentioned its flipped.
Am I the only that is reminded of the Nazi persecution of many races as well as its good-luck connotations when I see the swastika? Am I the only one that doesn't want some guy to tell me I'm racist because of that? Am I the only one who thinks that this site is, in itself, racist, criticizing all Europeans (of which I am one) because of what one political party did, and their chosen symbol?
Yes, I tend to see the swastika as a bad symbol, because I have been brought up in a society still re-building itself from the actions of the Nazi party. I'm not racist, I am just from a different society.
people what you have been talking about is a swastika. you mean though to be talking about the manji, a very old Hindu symbol meaning something along the lines of, peace and prosperity. here are some examples of a manji's http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=manji&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi . Ayes, it was in a way stolen and made into the swastika but a manji's are the other way!! a you can see a swastika is the reverse of a manji, as it was reversed when Hitler took it as his symbol of Nazis. i hope you understand now the difference between a swastika and a manji.
no, smart-alek portrayals with reference to Nazi Germany should be viewed as assholish. Its connotations does not overshadow its original intent, maybe in the western world where the only thing ppl care about IS the western world but the symbol has existed time out of mind. Its simplicity and age easily make it one of the earliest symbolic figures of mankind. It has a positive meaning anywhere you got outside Europe and the US. The rest of the world should not have to conform and give this symbol, which is being done due to pressure from the west, just because the west feels like everyone should be going emo over it with them.
No i don't like hitler, no im not anti-semitic, yes i feel for the Jews but one of the things i hate in this world more than anything is ppl having to give up their native cultures to appease the western world and the western world forcing its own cultures upon everyone else. It makes the world so much smaller....
