Short, truthy history lesson here.
4Chan is the US/Intl version of a Japanese BBS called 2Channel. 2Chan is also known as "Futaba-chan" `(ふたばーちゃん), which essentially means 2Chan - the "chyan" at the end is a term of familiarity and "cuteness", but is phonetically the same. 2Chan also tends to ban international IP addresses (US, mainly) from the message boards - so 4Chan was founded as an alternate for English-speakers.
The (unofficial?) mascot of 4Chan is "Yotsuba-chyan" (again, meaning 4Chan phonetically) who is a little girl from a popular manga (US and JP) "Yotsuba-to..." which means "Yotsuba and ..." and is (mostly) harmless in its satirical content. Her hair is usually tied into four bundles, hence her name.
4Chan itself is akin to a social club. There are the docile sections, the constructive sections, and the rowdy sections (/b). Although at times the humor may be dark, the swastika isn't the symbol of 4chan - the proprietor, Moot, tends to not like visits by the FBI.
The whole swastika thing was part of the "constructive"/"rowdy" crowds - a unicode character escape symbol was pasted raw, and people were told to Google it. The rest, is history. -

No you doofus, yotsuba is first and foremost "four leaf" like the clover. Yotsuba (of the manga) has four "leaves" of hair, but the real meaning of futaba/yotsuba is two-leaf/four-leaf. -

yeah, europe tried to ban the swastika because they are racist. yeah, thats totally it. The european union deciede to outlaw the swastika in an effort to spite asian traditions. it must be because the EU, as a whole, is racist. there is no way that it has to do with a certain dictator that killed 10 million people. Yea, Europe's distain for the swastika has everything to do with some deep seated hatred of hindu, Buddhist, and chinese people. God thats stupid.
And i LOVE the part where it is some innocuous website that has been around for 6 years, maybe, that made the swastika famous. yes, it was totally a website full of basement dwelling neck bears that gave the swastika bad name, while at the same time creating lolcats. It certianly wasnt Hitler or anything like that. Certainly not. There is no way that a totalitarian dictator who ordered the death of million of civilians, started the WWII, invaded europe and russia, declared war on american, and is the role model for KKK members and racists everywhere is the reason that the swastika has a bad rep.

First off the definition of the swastika is "Unconquerable"
Second off if you really did your research into WWII and Hitler you would know that his SS are the ones that did almost all of the killing, the same SS that at a point Hitler fired for giving him a bad name!
